Frequently Asked Questions about Ordering Lenses
How much do lenses cost?
Special effect contact lens prices vary according to the diameter of the lens and the design intricacies. Specific designs and patterns must be individually assessed for the lab time they will require. We will review your order after it is received by fax, email or courier, then contact you with a final quote.
How fast can you make my lenses?
This depends on many factors, including our workload at the time and the complexity of the lens you require. Solid lenses and simple tints may take only 24 hours, while very complicated lenses might take more than a week. Please contact a Contour representative, and we will make every effort to meet your schedule.
What information do you need from me?
When placing an order for special effect lenses, it is best to provide a colour sample and a sketch of the desired design. You may email us a .jpg of your design, but please note that it is nearly impossible to match colour from a computer monitor. A colour chip or Pantone colour will help us get as close as possible to your desired shade.
We also require УKФ readings and horizontal and vertical measurements of the wearer's eye, all of which can be obtained from any eye specialist. If you are in the Vancouver area, you also have the option of dropping by our office, where we can take these measurements for you.

Do lenses hurt to wear?
In a word, no. That said, everyone is different, and some take more time getting used to the "feel" of lenses in their eyes. A few variables affect the feel of wearing lenses, most notably the size of the lens. "Full scleral" lenses (those which cover the greater part of the visible eye) will be more of a challenge to get used to than a standard sized lens. Also, people who regularly wear contact lenses, and who are used to their insertion and removal will be more comfortable than those who have never worn contact lenses. Be assured though, on a regular basis we deal with actors who have never worn lenses. They are always surprised by how comfortable the lenses are and how simple the process is.
Are you available to insert them for me?
Yes. Having one of our lens technicians on set will assure your actors a safe and comfortable experience with special effect lenses. Please contact us for availability and on-set fees.
Can you make special effect lenses with a prescription?
Yes. Include your wearer's prescription with your order. Some prescriptions (most notably very strong ones) may take longer to order in than others, so you may wish to allow us more lead time on prescription lenses.
Would you send me a catalogue of what you offer?
The lenses you see on our website are by no means the extent of what we offer. The pictures you have seen are just a small sample of the work we have done. As every design is custom made to the needs of the client, our designs are not limited to the contents of a catalogue. Your imagination is our catalogue. If you can dream it, we can create it. If you are not sure what is possible with special effect lenses, contact us any time, and we will help you with the final touch needed to complete your SFX creation.
